Request Custom Packaging Fulfyld: How to Submit Brand Packaging Requirements

Custom Packaging Custom packaging refers to branded or specially configured packaging materials—such as printed boxes, tissue paper, inserts, and stickers—that go beyond a 3PL provider's standard shipping supplies, requiring additional setup, sourcing, and per-order assembly fees.

Quick answer: Custom packaging at Fulfyld is set up through your dedicated account manager, it’s not configured through the Shipedge portal. Reach out with a description of what you have in mind, any brand assets you’ve already developed (logos, color codes, fonts), and whether you plan to supply your own packaging or want Fulfyld to help source and design it.

What Counts as Standard Packaging (No Extra Cost)

Before requesting custom packaging, it’s worth knowing what’s already included in your standard Fulfyld rate so you understand exactly where the line is.

The following are available at no additional charge as part of your account:

  • Standard-sized cardboard shipping boxes

  • Standard poly mailers and bubble mailers

  • Standard tape

  • Standard void fill, including kraft paper, shredded cardboard, and bubble wrap

  • A packing slip with every order, if you provide a black-and-white version of your logo, Fulfyld will print it in the top right corner of the packing slip at no extra cost

If your needs fall within this range and you just want your logo on the packing slip, that’s a straightforward request; send your logo file to your account manager, and they’ll get it added.

Everything beyond this list is considered custom packaging and is priced based on the complexity of what’s involved.

Follow these steps to get custom packaging set up on your Fulfyld account.

Step 1: Define What You’re Looking For

Before contacting your account manager, think through the specifics of what you want. The more clearly you can describe it, the faster the conversation moves. Helpful things to have ready:

  • Which SKUs or order types the custom packaging applies to (all orders, specific products, orders above a certain value, gift orders)

  • Whether you want to supply your own packaging or need Fulfyld to source it

  • What elements do you want included: outer box, inserts, tissue, printed media, or a combination

  • Whether your brand guidelines are already defined, logo files, color codes, fonts, or whether you’re still in the early stages

  • Any reference examples of packaging you admire or want to emulate

Step 2: Contact Your Dedicated Account Manager

Custom packaging is set up entirely through your account manager; there is no self-serve packaging configuration in Shipedge. Reach out directly via email or phone with the details from Step 1.

If you’re still in onboarding and haven’t been assigned an account manager yet, bring this up with your onboarding coordinator during Step 3 of the onboarding process, when packaging requirements are confirmed.

Step 3: Review Pricing

Your account manager will review your packaging requirements and provide a pricing proposal. Custom packaging fees vary based on complexity, the number of elements involved, the assembly time per order, and whether Fulfyld is sourcing materials on your behalf or working with packaging you supply.

There are no standard custom packaging rates published because every setup is different. Do not assume any custom element is included in your base rate until your account manager confirms it in writing.

Step 4: Provide Brand Assets and Packaging Materials

Once pricing is agreed, you’ll provide whatever assets or physical materials are needed:

  • If Fulfyld is printing or sourcing packaging: submit your logo files, color codes (Pantone, CMYK, or hex), and any design references

  • If you’re supplying your own packaging: ship it to Fulfyld’s warehouse at 511 6th St, Madison, AL 35756 with a replenishment submitted in Shipedge so the warehouse knows what’s arriving and how to receive it

  • If you’re including printed inserts, ship your inventory of cards, stickers, or brochures to the warehouse the same way

Make sure you maintain an adequate stock of any custom packaging materials you supply. If your branded boxes or inserts run out, the warehouse will default to standard packaging until restocked, unless you’ve made alternative arrangements with your account manager in advance.

Step 5: Provide Packing Instructions

Your account manager will document your packaging requirements in your account’s packing instructions, the internal guide the warehouse team references every time they pick and pack an order for your account.

If different SKUs or order types require different packaging treatments, make sure each scenario is captured clearly. For kitting or bundling setups where the assembly process is complex, photos or a short video of the intended pack-out are especially helpful.

Step 6: Confirm with a Test Pack

Before your custom packaging rolls out across real customer orders, ask your account manager to arrange a test pack. This is a single order assembled using your custom packaging setup, which gives you a chance to verify that the materials, assembly, and presentation match your expectations before it goes to customers at scale.

Catching a misalignment at this stage, wrong insert placement, a box that’s too large for the product, tissue that’s the wrong color, is far easier than resolving it after hundreds of orders have shipped.

Packaging That Works at Volume

Custom packaging that looks great on the first pack-out needs to hold up at scale. A few things worth thinking through before finalizing your setup:

Keep assembly time realistic. Every additional element, folding tissue, placing an insert, or adding a sticker, adds time per order. That time is reflected in your per-order costs.

If you’re shipping high volumes, even a 30-second addition per pack multiplies quickly. Balance the unboxing experience you want against what’s practical to execute on thousands of orders.

Plan your packaging inventory carefully. Running out of a custom box or a printed insert mid-month creates fulfillment disruptions. Work with your Fulfyld account manager to set a reorder threshold and build in lead time for your supplier to deliver before you run short.
